Up and down with excitement
The night away
Away in laughter
Long walks with friends
Driving wherever I want… just driving period
To maintain friendships
To be a great parent
To be a great wife
To maintain relationships with family
To look pretty
Anything with a heel.. the shoes women die for! I miss those shoes…
Boots. Sandals. Black. Red. Suede. Leather.
Books. Magazines. Anxiety has taken over my ability to relax long enough to read
Flowers. Landscaping. Pots.
I don’t know how anymore
Sun. Waves. Endless ocean. Sunset.
I LOVE this! Thank you, Tamiko!
Though it can be sad to think about the things we miss (I’m with Miss Dogkisses–I miss everything) it is also heartening to remember fun, refreshing, uplifting moments we have enjoyed in our lives. No, we can’t do many of them anymore, but we did at one time and it was meaningful then and can be a warm memory now.
I guess some of these things can be seen as life’s passages. We don’t do or want to do some of the things we did when we were younger. Personally, I can think of nothing much more icky than having to do homework again! I know some would like to return to school, but for me, it is not a fun thought. I still have dreams where I forget my locker number or I didn’t do my homework!
Yes, there are oh so many things I miss – thinking clearly and carrying on an intelligent conversation, doing yard work and yes, even some housework (but not the bathrooms!), being silly and sexy in intimacy with my husband. Yes there are many things I miss, many, many important things.
Okay, I have gone from uplifted to sad, so I am going to shut up now.
Thanks, Tamiko for the thought provoking post.
I’m with you… returning to school is definitely not something I want to do. I used to think about it all the time. I dream about it as well, but I’m not sure that those dreams are meant to tell me that I should return.
I miss a lot of things, and maybe we should try to go back to some of those things we miss and see if we can do them again. I tend to assume I can’t do things anymore and never try them again. I don’t want to kill myself, but maybe I shouldn’t just assume…. I don’t know.
We only live this life once…
Thank you so much for leaving your comments, I totally appreciate it!!!
Hi myfoggybrain —
Your list is moving. I miss thinking clearly. I miss energy most. I miss everything now that I think about it.
Then I can see your “cutie,” in the sidebar as I write here, and she makes me smile too! So, at least we can still smile. (Special thanks to our four-legged friends who always love us.)
I miss golfing with my husband and friends and just plain walking around the block. I look back and see all the intricate things I took for greanted. And I’m sorry I did.
Good list. I think the thing I miss the most is dancing. That was such good exercise. I miss the friends we used to go dancing with several times a month. And I miss teaching dance.
